Wokefield is to the west of London, just off the M4 south of Reading.

By car:
From west, east and north:
- Exit M4 at junction 11, take A33 southbound towards Basingstoke.
- After a third of a mile, at the first roundabout, take the third exit towards Burghfield, Grazeley and Mortimer (different road signs around this junction have at least two of these place names on them)
- After 2.5 miles, you will have gone through Grazeley village and past the Wheatsheaf pub
- The road then takes a sharp right and goes over a (railway) bridge.
- Carry straight on for another third of a mile. The road bends left and the entrance to Wokefield is very obvious on the right. It's a slightly tricky entrance on a left-hand bend.
From the south:
- Exit M3 at junction 5.
- Follow the signs for Hook and Reading on to the A30.
- At the next roundabout, take the B3349 towards Reading.
- Continue towards Reading.
- Join the A33.
- At the roundabout before the M4, turn left towards Grazeley and Mortimer.
- After 2.5 miles, you will have gone through Grazeley village and past the Wheatsheaf pub
- The road then takes a sharp right and goes over a railway bridge.
- Carry straight on for another third of a mile. The road bends left and the entrance to Wokefield is very obvious on the right.
By train:
Reading station is 7 miles away and there is a taxi rank outside.
Train connect for Mortimer from Reading and Basingstoke every 30 minutes (weekdays) and every hour (Sundays), but there is no taxi rank at Mortimer. As it is a 1.5 mile walk (on a road with no footpath), best to ring Wokefield reception on 0118 933 4000.
By plane (to Heathrow):
- Nearest airport is Heathrow - about 24 miles away
- From Heathrow, you have several options, and thanks to Diane Booth for finding these out in September 2000:
- Taxi: Lewy Bird (Airport Cab Co/Limousines - 0374-104101 or 01635-247414) will do the run at £40 each way (normally £50) PER CAR, so people can share. Bookings in advance, and will need to know flight arrival times etc. It takes approx 45 minutes
- Coach link to Reading: The coaches start at 6.45am and finish at 23.15 to Reading (return to Heathrow 5.15am to 21.45) and take approximately 45 minutes. Costs £13.00 for a return fare.
- Taxi from Reading Station to Wokefield Park: The Taxi pick-up is at the station. It will cost approximately £20-25 and will take 20 - 30 minutes.
- Taxis can be booked from reading Station through Wokefield Park, will cost £15.00 and will take 20 - 30 minutes.
- Train: Catch a tube or Underground (Piccadilly Line is the only choice) to Paddington. This takes about an hour by tube or catch a "Heathrow Express" train from Heathrow (costs £11 each way, takes 15 minutes, trains every 15 minutes) to Paddington station. Then catch a train to Reading and follow the instructions as above (ie taxi from Reading to Wokefield
- Cheapest option: The cheapest way is to go via the bus to Reading, then hitch down to the conference centre. For hassle-free travel, however, the taxi gets our vote - Lewy said he/they would lay on limousines for large parties, and they are very glamorous!
