At the European Psychopharmacy Congress in Copenhagen in November, it became apparent that there was a wide diversity in the use of hypnotics in the elderly e.g. the widespread use on nitrazepam in some parts of Norway. It has been decided to try to do a pan-European survey of hypnotics in the elderly, and volunteers in each country will be sought soon. When Johan e-mails me the text I'll put it up here.
