SERVICE OBJECTIVES AND AUDIT

Service objectives are detailed in the Pharmacy Core Service Level Agreement - see Appendix 1.

The Pharmacy Service is committed to reviewing drug prescribing and working practices with the objective of increased efficiency and cost effectiveness.

STAFF COVER ARRANGEMENTS

The Trust will be responsible for the provision of Pharmacy Service as outlined in Pharmacy Core Service Level Agreement.

Although displayed within the context of the SLA, the management and provision of the drugs and medical gases budgets is the responsibility of the host managers. Limited assistance will be provided in managing the drug expenditure as part of the SLA by the Pharmacy Service.

MAIN QUALITY STANDARDS

Quality standards are detailed in the Pharmacy Core Service Level Agreement, specific to each element of the service, and in the departmental Pharmacy User’s Guides.

METHOD OF MONITORING

Activity reports with a breakdown of drugs, costs and locations will be provided by Pharmacy Services on a monthly basis.

PERIOD OF NOTICE FOR SIGNIFICANT CHANGES

Notice is to be given either at the annual review meeting or in the interim in the event of significant change in the agreed service level.

Form of Contract

  1. The contract is workload related under the understanding that both parties will jointly monitor services and manage changes.
  2. The contract is for two years (1999-2001), to be renegotiated annually.
  3. This agreement may be terminated by either party upon the written receipt of six months notice.

MANNER OF PAYMENT

a) Drugs and any other supplies

All payments to be made monthly in arrears, on an actual basis, by the 15th of each month.

b) Services Charges

Proportion of the agreed non-drugs costs to be paid monthly by the 15th of each month.
